Cal-Cryo @QB3-Berkeley is the UC Berkeley cryo-EM core, housed in the basement of Stanley Hall and operating since February 2018 under faculty co-directors James Hurley and Stephen Brohawn with scientific director Kedar Sharma. It runs two 300 kV Titan Krios (G2 and G3i) and a 200 kV Talos Arctica, all with Gatan K3 detectors, plus a Vitrobot Mark IV and remote processing workstations with CryoSPARC Live. Day rates are posted for UC and external users.
Posted day rates exist for UC users and for external non-UC/non-academic users; QB3 states the facility also serves non-UC researchers and private industry, who should contact the facility, and new users complete safety training and a sign-up form.
