The Waitt Advanced Biophotonics Core is Salk's shared light and electron microscopy facility. Its EM instrumentation is a Zeiss Libra 120 PLUS energy-filtered TEM, a Zeiss Sigma variable pressure FEG SEM, and a Gatan 3View serial block face SEM, with Leica UC7/FC7 ultramicrotomy, Leica EM ICE high pressure freezing, Leica AFS freeze substitution, a Leica EM GP plunge freezer and a Vitrobot. It is a conventional and volume EM core rather than a high-resolution cryo-EM core; Salk's Titan Krios, Talos Arctica and Aquilos cryo-FIB are owned by the Lyumkis Lab.
The rates page separates Salk researchers (Salkland rates) from users who are 'NOT a Salk researcher', who are directed to a public external rate sheet; scheduling runs through PPMS.
