SCSB Cryo-electron Microscopy (Cryo-EM) Laboratory

The Sealy Center for Structural Biology and Molecular Biophysics cryo-EM laboratory occupies the first floor of UTMB's Medical Research Building and includes the W. M. Keck Center for virus imaging, a BSL-3 containment suite. It operates a 300 kV Titan Krios with a post-column energy filter and direct detector, a 200 kV JEOL JEM-2200FS with in-column omega filter inside BSL-3, and a 200 kV JEOL JEM-2100 for negative stain and training, with a Vitrobot, a Solarus plasma cleaner and a 120-core processing cluster.

Microscope time is requested through an online schedule request form and the BSL-3 JEM-2200FS can be operated remotely for online users, but no page states whether non-UTMB users are accepted or what they pay.
