The CryoEM Core is one of Baylor College of Medicine's Advanced Technology Cores, located in the Alkek Building (rooms N006 and N420) and rated BSL-1. It operates a 200 kV Glacios with Autoloader, an Aquilos 2 cryo-FIB with integrated fluorescence microscope, a JEOL JEM-3200FSC with in-column filter and Gatan K2 Summit, a JEOL JEM-2200FS with in-column filter and DE20, a JEOL JEM-2100 with DE12 and a JEOL JEM-1230 for negative stain. Sample preparation includes a Vitrobot, a Leica EM GP, a Leica EM ICE high-pressure freezer and, by arrangement with the Pillon lab, a chameleon.
External users may operate equipment during peak hours (8 am to 6 pm weekdays) after consultation with the core directors; internal and DLDCC-subsidized rates are published and external users are told to inquire for pricing.
