Irvine Materials Research Institute (IMRI), Center for Transmission Electron Microscopy (CTEM)

IMRI is UC Irvine's open-access materials characterization institute; its Center for Transmission Electron Microscopy (CTEM) in Engineering Hall houses the biological cryo-EM capability. Cryo-capable TEMs are a Thermo Scientific Glacios (200 kV XFEG, autoloader, Gatan K3 and Ceta) and a JEOL JEM-2100F with K3, cryo pole piece and cryo-transfer holder, supported by a Vitrobot and a Leica EM GP. The same lab runs a JEOL Grand ARM 300, a Nion UltraSTEM 200 HERMES and a JEOL JEM-2800 for materials work, and IMRI's SEM labs operate a Tescan GAIA3 FIB-SEM, FEI Magellan 400 and FEI Quanta 3D FEG.

Open-access recharge facility with posted UC, external academic and commercial hourly rates; users register in the NEMO reservation system and are trained by staff.
