Carver College of Medicine core (formerly the Protein and Crystallography Facility, now the Protein Structure, Analysis, & Design Core) at 51 Newton Rd, Iowa City, offering protein production, biophysical characterization, crystallography and cryo-EM. Its 200 kV Glacios, announced December 2024 and expected fall 2025, is configured with a Falcon 4i camera and Selectris energy filter, with a Vitrobot Mark IV for grid preparation. Negative stain EM is done on a Hitachi HT7800 in the separate Central Microscopy Research Facility, and X-ray and SAXS data are collected remotely at ALS and APS.
The core states it serves the University of Iowa research community as well as external clients, and its rate sheet carries IOWA, Academic and Commercial tiers.
