Howard Hughes Medical Institute - Janelia Research Campus

Janelia's Cryo-Electron Microscopy Facility, directed by Zhiheng Yu, is an HHMI-wide shared facility that supports the full workflow from grid preparation through data collection and image processing. It operates four Titan Krios microscopes (Krios 1 with Cs corrector, BioContinuum HD and K3; Krios 2 with BioQuantum and K3, scheduled for retirement in May 2026 and replacement by a Krios 5; Krios 3 and Krios 4 with cold FEG, Selectris X and Falcon 4i), a Talos L120C and Tecnai F20 for screening, an Aquilos 2 and a Hydra plasma cryo-FIB-SEM, two Vitrobot Mark IVs, Leica EM GP and GP2 plungers, a chameleon, and Leica cryo-CLEM widefield and Stellaris 8 cryo-confocal microscopes.
