The CryoEM Core at UNC Chapel Hill, part of the Center for Structural Biology in the Glaxo Research Building, operates a 200 keV Talos Arctica with a Gatan K3 direct detector and Ceta-D camera, plus a Vitrobot Mark IV, Pelco easiGlow, Tergeo-EM plasma cleaner and Leica ACE600 coater. It offers fee-for-service single-particle cryoEM, cryo-electron tomography and cryoTEM of nanoparticles to internal, external academic and industry customers. A 300 keV Titan Krios G4 with Falcon 4i and Selectris X was announced in December 2025 for installation in summer 2026.
External academic and industry customers book through iLab (Vitrobot, sputter coater and clipping station on the calendar; microscope time via a request form), with separate External and Industry rate tiers; UNC System and NCSU labs get the internal rate.
