POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH POSITION - Protein Biochemistry & Structural Biology
Qatar
Application deadline: 01 Aug 2026
The Lashuel Laboratory at Weill Cornell Medicine – Qatar (WCM-Q) invites applications for a full-time Postdoctoral Associate in protein biochemistry and structural biology. The laboratory applies chemical, biophysical, structural, and molecular biology approaches to understand the molecular and structural basis of protein misfolding and aggregation and their role in neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, Huntington’s disease, and ALS.
For more information about the laboratory, please visit our website.
THE ROLE
Produce, purify, and characterize disease-relevant proteins to high purity and yield.
Lead biophysical and structural characterization and correlate structure with biological activity and toxicity.
Design and optimize experiments, analyze and interpret data rigorously, and present findings internally and at conferences.
Prepare manuscripts for publication and contribute to grant applications and reports.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
Ph.D. in biochemistry, biophysics, structural biology, chemistry, molecular biology, or a closely related discipline.
Demonstrated several years of hands-on research experience in protein biochemistry, protein biophysics, and structural characterization.
Strong expertise in recombinant protein expression and multi-step purification (affinity, ion-exchange, and size-exclusion chromatography).
Proficiency with biophysical characterization methods (e.g., circular dichroism, fluorescence spectroscopy, dynamic light scattering, SEC-MALS, analytical ultracentrifugation, ITC, and/or SPR).
Hands-on experience with one or more structural techniques (cryo-electron microscopy, X-ray crystallography, NMR, and/or negative-stain EM).
Strong teamwork skills — excellent interpersonal and communication skills, a collaborative mindset, and a proven ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary, international team.
HOW TO APPLY
Only candidates who fully meet the essential requirements above will be considered and should apply.
Applicants should submit a single PDF containing a cover letter, a full CV with publication list, and the contact details of three references to:
