POST Doc Position cryoEM/Biochemistry AFMB, Marseille, France Application deadline: 02 Oct 2026 A new positions, for a cryoEM/Biochemistry is now available at the Dr Juan Reguera Vidaechea Postdoctoral Researcher – CHIKO ERC AdG Position Overview Position Title: Postdoctoral Researcher in Structural and Functional Virology Project: CHIKO: Decoding the spatial and temporal sequence of Chikungunya virus infection (ERC Advanced Grant 2025) They are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to join the CHIKO project. The successful candidate will lead the structural and functional characterization of viral replication complexes at different stages of infection. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to groundbreaking research in viral replication, while gaining expertise in high-impact techniques, publishing in top-tier journals, and collaborating with international labs. Key Responsibilities •    Characterization of Viral Replication Complexes o    Investigate the formation, evolution, and function of replication complexes during the viral life cycle. o    Study the interactions between viral and host proteins with viral RNA and their role in replication. •    Structural Analysis o    Determine the high-resolution structures of replication complexes in various functional states using Cryo-Electron Microscopy. o    Analyze structural data to elucidate mechanisms of viral replication and transcription. •    Functional Studies o    Assess the biochemical and enzymatic activities of replication complexes. o    Explore the molecular determinants of viral RNA synthesis and processing. •    Collaboration and Reporting o    Work closely with team members and collaborators to integrate structural and functional findings. o    Present results at project meetings, conferences, and in peer-reviewed publications. Required Qualifications Education •    PhD in Structural Biology, Virology, Biochemistry, or a related field. Technical Skills •    Experience in macromolecular structure determination (e.g., Cryo-Electron Microscopy or related techniques). •    Strong background in protein biochemistry and molecular biology. •    Familiarity with viral systems (preferably RNA viruses). Soft Skills •    Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. •    Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team. •    Strong communication skills .
