About This Position

Joint postdoctoral position between Dr. Stella (Ying) Sun's lab at the University of Pittsburgh and Dr. Rui Zhang's lab at Washington University in St. Louis, focused on cellular in situ structural biology. The project applies cryo-electron tomography, cryo-FIB milling, single-particle cryo-EM, and fluorescence microscopy to understand ciliary and flagellar biogenesis, protein trafficking, and organelle organization, using Trypanosoma brucei as a model organism. Responsibilities include experimental design, advanced cryo imaging, image processing, and quantitative analysis, with flexibility to emphasize cryo-ET, cryo-EM, or computational work depending on the candidate's background and career goals. Preferred experience includes cryo-ET, cryo-EM, electron microscopy, image processing, fluorescence microscopy, or ciliary biology; candidates from cell biology, structural biology, microscopy, biophysics, or parasitology backgrounds who wish to develop structural expertise are also encouraged to apply.
