Duke's Shared Materials Instrumentation Facility (SMIF) operates two cryo-TEMs: a 300 kV Titan Krios (TEM3) with a 12-grid autoloader, Gatan K3 BioQuantum, Falcon 2 and Ceta 16M cameras and a Volta phase plate, and a 100 kV Tundra (TEM4) with a Ceta camera. Two Vitrobot Mark IV plungers and a PELCO glow discharge unit support grid preparation. The facility is open to external academic and industry users on a fee basis, and the Krios is part of the NIEHS/Duke/UNC Molecular Microscopy Consortium.
